Stille · terms

The terms, in plain English.

What Stille is, what it isn’t, and what each side agrees to.

Version 1.0 · effective 24 May 2026

What Stille is

Stille is a Big Five personality assessment with a written interpretation of your scores, built by a registered psychologist for self-reflection and self-development. The assessment uses the IPIP-NEO-120 (Johnson, 2014), an open-source psychometric instrument, with norms drawn from a published reference sample of 619,150 respondents.

What Stille is not

Stille is not a clinical assessment, a diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a registered mental health professional. The five dimensions and twenty-nine facets it describes are descriptive, not prescriptive — they describe tendencies, not destinies. Personality patterns are real but they shift across life stages, contexts, and effort.

If you are in distress, considering self-harm, or in crisis, please contact appropriate support rather than relying on a personality report:

  • Aotearoa New Zealand: Lifeline 0800 543 354, Suicide Crisis Helpline 0508 828 865, or 1737 (Need to Talk?).
  • Outside New Zealand: please use your local crisis support service. The International Association for Suicide Prevention maintains a directory at iasp.info/resources/Crisis_Centres.

In an emergency, call 111 (NZ), 911 (US/Canada), 999 (UK), 000 (AU), or 112 (EU).

What you agree to

By taking the test, you confirm that:

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You’re answering honestly to the best of your ability.
  • You understand the report describes broad tendencies, not fixed truths about who you are.
  • You have read the Privacy Policy and agree to how your responses are handled.

What we agree to

  • Do our best to compute your scores accurately, using a transparent published instrument and verifiable norms.
  • Handle your data the way the Privacy Policy describes — nothing more, nothing weirder.
  • Be honest about the limits of what a personality test can tell you, both in the report and in the methodology.
  • Tell you (where we can) when something we change might affect your interpretation of past results.

Limits on liability

Stille is provided as-is, without warranty. Personality assessment is inherently approximate, and the report is descriptive rather than predictive. To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, Stille and the operator are not liable for decisions you (or anyone else) make based on the report. Use your own judgement; consult a qualified professional for decisions where stakes are high.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or comparable consumer protection laws in your jurisdiction.

Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. If a dispute arises that we can’t resolve by talking to each other directly, the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially, we’ll bump the version number at the top of the page. Material changes affecting an active user (once accounts ship) will be notified via email before they take effect.
